Croatia is often reduced to a single image: red rooftops above a blue sea. It is a beautiful image — but it barely scratches the surface of a country with more than a thousand islands, several distinct regions and a coastline that changes character every few kilometres.
In the south, Dubrovnik and the Elaphiti Islands offer history, drama and crystal-clear swimming. Head along the coast and you find the wine roads of Pelješac, the oyster beds of Ston, and quiet fishing villages where lunch lasts all afternoon. Further north lie the lakes of Plitvice and Krka, the Roman heart of Split and Zadar’s famous sunsets.
Whatever shade of Croatia appeals to you — busy or remote, cultural or coastal — it can be reached from a single base on the Adriatic. Tell us what you are drawn to, and we will help you build a trip that sees more than the postcard.
